At the largest Biermeisterschaft so far, 12 players from 5 countries participated. All but Tony Gammell also drank beer. Only Peter van der Helm was disqualified after a bye and win shortly after another. The new European Biermeister is JK, even though Will Hoskin may have drunk more (both had 11 Victory Points), but after bribes (called "sponsoring") from both, the TD went with the boring "Strength of Schedule"-rules. Sorry, Will, you just have to make the Weltbiermeister this year! 3rd place went to last year's German Biermeister Carsten Hartmann (8 VP = 2,4 litres of beer).
An interesting aside: First ever European Biermeister Tony Gammell did not take part in the Biermeister part of the tournament and quit after two rounds (PR responsibilities concerning the EC). JK, who was the first person to ever be disqualified at a Biermeisterschaft, was well prepared this time! Congrats!
